My dad was Earl Milo Nelson and he was a Staff Sergeant in the Army Air Corps from 1942 to 1945, serving in the 496th Bombardment Squadron as a flight maintenance gunner. He flew 58 missions on B-26 bombers as a flight engineer gunner for the 9th Air Force. He saw action in the air offensive over Normandy, Germany, the Ardennes and North Africa. He received the EAME Theatre Medal and the Air Medal with 10 Oak Leaf Clusters. -Gnanse Nelson
